Updated Again: Is AT&T Shafting Its Stores?

This evening, I headed out to our local AT&T store to buy myself a brand new HTC Surround Windows Phone 7 handset. Unfortunately, when I got to the store, they didn’t have any. After I asked about it, I found out that it wasn’t because they’d sold out; it was because they still hadn’t gotten any. The poor guy at the store really had no idea what the story was; he hadn’t even yet seen any of them in person.

Best Buy Demos New Zune HD

zunehdSelect Best Buy stores throughout the United States are presenting demonstrations of the new Zune HD this weekend. If you are at all interested in the new Zune, you might want to check it out. While you’re there, you can go ahead and pre-order your own Zune HD. Currently, you can pre-order a silver 32 gig version for $289.99 (more than $100 less than the 32-gig iPod Touch) or a black 16-gig version for $219.99. However, the Zune Insider podcast has reported that more colors will be available shortly after they’re initially released.

I’ve uploaded a copy of the official list of Best Buy stores that are offering the demos this weekend.

Circuit City Says Good-Bye

Circuit City's Web SiteIn a somewhat shocking and depressing press release from the Circuit City headquarters in Richmond, VA yesterday, it was announced that the electronics retailer was officially going out of business and liquidating all of its assets.

The Web site is already offline, displaying nothing but a message about the closing. I’m not sure if the Web site will come back to be part of the liquidation process, or if it is truly gone.
