Nov 27 S3fm Offers Browser Amazon S3 File Manager
We use Amazon’s storage service S3 for a variety of items on HTMLCenter. It allows us to move some of the load from our server and it apparently also allows the site to load faster. One thing I’ve never quite understood is why S3 can’t work just like a FTP so that it’s nice and easy to use. It just seems like such a pain in the butt to use S3 sometimes.
A new service in beta is aiming to make it easier to manage your S3 account. S3fm is a very simple S3 management service. After entering your Amazon S3 credentials, your “buckets” (I call them folders) are displayed and you can upload new files, change the permissions of current files and delete files. It looks like a pretty easy-to-use S3 service.
The best part of S3fm is that it runs inside a web browser so you can manage your files from anywhere. The other tools I’ve tried are either desktop applications (e.g. BucketExplorer) or are browser extensions (e.g. S3fox).
Do you use a S3 application? If so, leave the name and your thoughts in the comments.

I use S3 Browser – http://s3browser.com – it keeps my Amazon S3 Credentials in encrypted form, so i can be sure they are safe, and i do not need to enter access/secret keys each time i use it.
